Long necked man

Description:

This series continued over a long period of time is a continued meditation over the impact of violence on human nature. Violence changes people inside. It warps human psyche. We cannot see this as it is not a physical contortion. Jagath started drawing physically warped human figures to illustrate this contortion in the human psyche.  He started the series in the 80s when Sri Lanka experienced much violence in the North and the South through civil wars and youth insurrections. As people began to experience unending violence, they became used to it. Violence got normalized.
