Action at the Red Square
White on Red
The solemn rejection of the white flag timed to coincide with the Victory Day parade in 1945.
Is throwing a white flag to the red Kremlin wall the same as raising a black flag over your head? This is one of those questions that cannot be answered theoretically. A validating action is required in order to answer this question.
Throwing out the flag is the return to the authorities the main gift from them – the right of the individual to surrender. If you think that the time for “reasonable” surrender has passed and consciousness should become the service of the resistance you should throw your white flag on their main square. It is the act of declaring war on one’s own conformism to the authorities. This is a message sent to the main address that you are no longer counted on. From this day on, a black dot will grow and spread on each discarded white flag until it captures your entire flag. In the noughties we all were given the opportunity to capitulate without shame. The one who throws his white flag under their wall renounces this right. The social game is escalating and relations with authorities (power relations??) no longer involve autonomy and evasion. The inter-revolutionary period ends before our eyes and in our hearts. The season of resistance and intervention is open. White is the color of the milk that the government feeds us, pressing us to its chest. White is the color of acceptance of someone else’s hegemony. If you feel that your teeth have been grown, release the mental embrace of the ruling class and return to them “your” white flag. It’s not yours anymore. From now on, you have no obligation to their power. You have performed a revolutionary ritual of personal liberation.
